Volunteers in regular on-site roles must be over the age of 18. If you are under 18 and interested in volunteering, please visit our student volunteer opportunities page. Most of our volunteer roles ask for a weekly or bi-weekly commitment for a six-month period. Animal handling roles ask for a 9 month commitment.

$215 per four-week session. This four-week program on Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. immerses young animal enthusiasts in the realms of animal husbandry and enrichment with service activities like making essential heating pads for neonatal kittens, assembling care packages for different teams and creating pupsicles for shelter dogs. All volunteers under 18 years old must have a volunteer application signed by a parent or guardian on file. All volunteers, other than those who are sewing or crafting for the shelter animals, are required to attend a Volunteer Orientation to familiarize them with basic animal handling training prior to interacting with any of the animals. Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age to work with cats. Volunteers 14-16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for all shifts.
